The Brimbank Resource Recovery Centre is closed Christmas Day and New Years Day
To protect our environment there are many things that should not go into landfill and need special handling when they are no longer needed and are considered rubbish.
Many of these can be taken to our Resource Recovery Centre but others cannot:
Accepted items
- clothing, shoes, handbags and fashion accessories
- all types of batteries
- fluorescent tubes (including CFLs)
- Motor oil up to 20L per vehicle
- gas cylinders (BBQ & domestic gas bottles only)
- electronic waste like televisions, computers, hard drives, printers, faxes (E-waste that has a battery or a power supply )
- clean cardboard including oversized cardboard boxes and cardboard cartons (empty)
- clean paper including office paper, newsprint, magazines and letter box mail
- paint tins
Items NOT accepted
- cans of spray paint
- chemicals other than those listed
- cooking oil
- waste from businesses or commercial operations
- household waste
- unclean cardboard and paper e.g cardboard with food scraps, dirt or liquid
- wet paper or cardboard
- plastic
- polystyrene
- packaging materials
- files or folders containing metal
- solar panels
- white goods (including fridges, ovens and dryers)
- carpet
