Disability ServicesThe Division provides and funds services for people with acquired brain injury or intellectual, sensory, neurological or physical disabilities.
The program works with families and carers and with both non- government and government service providers to advance the well-being and promote the quality of life of people with disabilities.
Programs funded by Disability Services fall into the following areas:
Individual support packages;
Assistance for people to live independently in their own homes including aids & equipment, HomeFirst, outreach support and therapy;
Specialist disability support including behaviour intervention services and criminal justice services;
Accommodation includes the Disability Housing Trust and shared supported accommodation;
Support for families and carers including Family Options, flexible support packages and respite;
Community participation includes day programs, Futures for Young Adults and recreation;
Information, Planning & Advocacy including information services, advocacy services and peak organisations;
Strengthening communities involves creating inclusive communities;
Disability Intake & Response Service, for intake assessment;
Quality & disability standards involves improvement of services;
Learning & development includes training for disability support workers and carers.
