The Helping Hand Project empowers young people aged 15–25 from refugee backgrounds by connecting them with volunteer mentors who offer support, guidance, and friendship. Mentors are carefully matched with mentees based on shared interests and skills to build a meaningful, supportive relationship.

As a volunteer mentor, you’ll help participants navigate life in Australia — from education pathways and homework support to building confidence, practicing English, and connecting with community networks. Mentors commit 1–2 hours per week or fortnight for 12 months, giving enough time to establish trust and make a real impact.

All volunteers receive culturally sensitive training, along with ongoing support and monthly check-ins, so you’re never on your own.

Join us in creating a brighter future — one connection at a time.
